На новом альбоме «At the Edge of Time» Blind Guardian, который вышел в России 29 июля этого года, есть две песни по Джорджу Мартину. Первая, «War of the Thrones» — акустическая, вторая «A Voice in the Dark» — тяжелая, агрессивная, песня в стиле спид метал, в лучших традициях Blind Guardian. Вторая посвящена Брану. Эти же песни входили в сингл «A Voice In The Dark», вышедший за месяц до релиза полноценного альбома.

Blind Guardian — немецкая рок-группа, образованная в 1984 году. Автор текстов и вокалист Ханси Кюрш черпает вдохновение во многих литературных произведениях, в первую очередь фантастических (Толкин, Кинг, Джордан), а также в мифах и легендах. В 1998 году вышел их самый успешный альбом, тексты песен для которого полностью основаны на «Сильмариллионе» Толкина. Следующие альбомы отошли от фантастической тематики, и вот спустя более 10 лет они вернулись и к прежним сюжетам, и к старому звучанию.

Что касается звучания, то их музыку характеризуют как спид-метал с использованием хорового бэк-вокала и многоголосых вокальных гармоник. Некоторые песни исполняются в жанре фолк-рок, акустические баллады с фолк мотивами.

Говорят, Blind Guardian вели переговоры с Питером Джексоном о возможности участия в записи саундтрека к кинотрилогии «Властелин Колец», однако переговоры так ничем и не кончились, но по словам Ханси, вся музыка, написанная им к «Властелину Колец» (в стиле симфонической и фолк-музыки) будет впоследствии выпущена отдельным альбомом.
